Q and A with the Singing Chef & Wedding Planner Tendai Kevin Zhou

He is well known for his amazing vocals and some call him 'Zimbabwe's sweetheart'.Tendai Kevin Zhou is a successful young man who not only sings but well known for his skills in the kitchen and of course  one of Zimbabwe's best wedding planners.

Tendai Kevin

Who is Tendai Kevin Zhou?

I am a 23 year old man . Yes old literally ! I'm free spirited and I'd like to think I'm an amicable fella. I work full time as an Events and Wedding planner at VIP Hosting and I also sing quite a lot , in the bathroom , in the car , in the office and mostly in the Zimpraise Choir. That's me in a nutshell

Most of us know you for your amazing voice and we would would like to know if Music has always been your first love?.

Actually I can only remember singing from the age of 9, just after my Mum passed away I had to live with my grandmother. As long as I can remember , my grandmother always had me in front of the Lutheran Sunday School singing . As the years went by I continued to sing at school , at church and I know my grandmother delights herself in knowing she played such an intricate part of bringing out the singer in me.

How do you manage being a singer, chef and wedding planner at the same time?.

You know I was actually talking about this with a group of people when we were sharing life experiences and I actually realised that God really just creates time for me. I'm able to safely balance all my passions, although I'm much lesser of a Chef  than I was when I was back in college ,let's just say it's the least of my passions.

Should we expect an album or single from you?

Maybe in the coming future. This is not something I feel ready for as yet. You know a solo project is such a big endeavour for me and I really don't want to do a half baked cake, I am really still learning quite a lot but let me say this, at God's time I will record something.

Have you ever thought of opening a restaurant?

Not entirely and when I say this I mean that I haven't ever really sat down to think about whether I would actually take that venture up . After being in college acquiring more information about running such a business I've realised it is in fact such a hectic one but ,a friend of mine Enos Deve shared with me a great restaurant idea that I think I would share with someone to do, if I'm not going to do it myself. In fact the restaurant will be called 'The Singing Chef' . It'll be a restaurant fused with open mic and music sessions etc.

If you were not a singing Chef or wedding planner what would you be?.

Growing up I'd always wanted to be a doctor . I come from a family that is full of academics , people in the medical and science industry and I thought I'd be on that track too. I remember being so passionate about sciences in high school and even participating in the school's first aid team for all my high school years but, this is something that died down just after leaving school .

Who do you look up to?.

Jheez I look up to a whole lot of people . The thing with me is I don't look up to a person wholly, there's certain things I look up to in people but I have to say this ,my biggest inspiration is my mother Danai Zhou. Charity really does begin at home , from her I have learnt how to be a go-getter and pursue the things I really love. Her determination for the things she's passionate about is what has made me who I am today. She's my biggest inspiration.

What's your favourite song at the moment?

I have been loyal to Anita Wilson's - All About You. That song is the one , ANYDAY!

Apart from Zimpraise what other gospel group do you listen to?

I listen to Joyous Celebration , no doubt . I also enjoy listening to other groups randomly especially when I'm on YouTube but not religiously . The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and Shekinah Glory as well only to mention the ones I remember off head.

What's your favourite meal.

This is weird but I enjoy contemporary meals as I would call them . You know one of those where you get home and throw random things together then BAM!, it's a delicious ensemble , the unfortunate thing about that is you can never really achieve the same ensemble so it's those once offs that I enjoy. Apart from that a mean Chicken Alfredo will do me good.

Your outfits are always on point.Would you consider your self a part time stylist?

I'd like to think I dress very normally , nothing to really write home about to be honest . I would not consider being a stylist but when asked to give an opinion on what to wear , I don't mind giving an amateur tip.

Whose your celebrity crush?

Hahaha my crush is not a celebrity unfortunately. Honestly though I haven't had a sleepless night over a celebrity . It's always a ,and I quote " oh that one looks hot" then I move on right along. Still tryna figure out if that's a problem or not.

If you were to get married would you plan your own wedding, help prepare food and also sing for your bride?.

I wouldn't do any of that. Hahaha I kinda live that life everyday , planning other people's weddings so I'm really going to let someone else do it. I will actually let Lungi Dlodlo of VIP Hosting, plan my wedding . I know that way my ideas will be executed to par.

What word of advice would you give to someone who wants to be a singer wedding planner or chef?

My general advice would be "Know what your passion and strengths are and focus on them . And yes passion will also make you do a lot of freebies but remember those cannot be done forever . If it feels wrong it probably is - move on. Your passion has gotta take care of you, work hard and earn hard too and no matter what you do , be prepared to work HARD!  Above All PRAY! There is something that prayer does that you can't do in your own strength.

Thank you for your time💜

You are welcome.

Dressed by Zuware

ZAA was just a great platform for me to meet people with different kinds of businesses and hearing people's achievements and encouraging each other on how we can work together as one in our community to paint our country beautiful. If you thought Zimbabwe had no talent or we were not smart then you thought wrong because I met so many influential people from my home country and that just made me more proud to be a Zimbabwean.

Chashe

This is Chashe omg this girl has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard.Chashe is a singer and she used to be based in the United States of America but now she is in the UK and she was one of our main artists at the ZAAs.She came to my hotel room and I asked if she didn't mind if I played her song "Zvekupenga" and she laughed lol and wow her song is very catchy hey.I even asked her if she loves hearing her voice I mean she has an amazing voice lol why wouldn't she hahah she is such a humble soul.

Charles Chavi

Charles Chavi was in the same category with me and he is the one who got the Young Achivers Award and I was really happy for him.He came to me and I told him "that's my award" lol he replied well "that's for us".

With Rudo

Rudo is an award winner for ZIMMA 2014 Author of the year and she was also nominated for the ZAAs.That omg moment when they did not announce her to be the winner for her category ,I did the same thing she did to me I held her hand and told her she is a winner no matter what the results are because I know how hard of a worker she is.

With David Zinyama lol my face tho smh -__-

Q & A with Soul Afrika (Taqura and Tatenda)

Hey guys so I thought of doing a Q & A with Soul Afrika one of the most talented duos I've ever heard in Zim but I like to call them zvinu boys lol.

What made you come up with the name Soul Afrikah?.What really inspired you?

Theres nothing much to the name. We just wanted something with "Africa" in it and Soul..since our roots are r&b nd Soul.

How did you two meet and decide you were going to be a duo?.

Well we met through Cynthia Mare nd her manager Tytan. I was playing acoustic guitar for Cynthia...nd Taku was in H-town. So we were just chillaxing and as we introduced each other we later started singing All of Me by John Legend and broke into harmonies. Thats how i came to join the group nd met Takura.

Have you two always wanted to be in a group or been in a group before?.

Well the funny thing abt having a vision is it leads u to the right people. I (Tatenda) personally have always wanted to team up with someone to create something Unique to the industry. So yes i have always wanted to be.

Tatenda you play an acoustic guitar and Taqura u play keys.Do you guys play other instruments except for those?.

Besides playing the acoustic Tatenda plays the piano ,drums ,bass guitar and mbira . My focus really is on song writing and also making sure that our vocals are on point.

I'm a big fan of you guys and i must admit my favourite songs are pauri and my valentine.Whats your favourite songs that you've done so far?

Takura :Handidi is actually my favourite.
Tatenda :i say my favourite is probably Mutoro (which is gonna be on the upcoming album #NDIMIDZERUDO).

When it comes to your fan base would you agree that most of your fans are females lol?.

Lol well...that we cant run away from! I think u can confirm.

Is there any special ladies in your lives since your songs are about Love lol (YOU DNT HAVE TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION If YOU DONT WANT TO).

Takura :Well I am single :)
Tatenda :uhm yes there is!.

About that song Zvinu does Pokello's know you sing about her lol?

Funny u asked. She is a friend of ours. And first time she heard the song she said "i laughed and loved it !"
.
Can I suggest someone who you guys can feature?

Uhm who?

Varaidzo Nyakunika 😊 I think your amazing voices plus hers will just be magical.

Oh Yh she does have a nice voice, maybe one day.

Who are you going to feature next?

This year is full of surprises nd the features are a surprise.

When should we expect an album?.

We gonna have an album dropping mid this year.

Any tours yet?

Tours..we havent toured yet. Working on an album. But we promise a lot of tours by end of year.

Thank you for your time Soul Afrika

You are welcome baybay :)

THE "EXPAGORATION" OF QUESTION MARKS WITH UGLYISHA.

Miss Uglyisha AKA Uggy was born in 2005 from a talented Zimbabwean group called Iyasa. Many of us fell inlove with Uggy from a song by Iyasa called banolila and to be honest I think Uggy started the twerk dance lol if you have seen his dance moves to that song you will know what I mean.Lately we have all been glued to Miss Uglyisha's page just to see her videos that leave us all in stitches.

I decided to inbox Miss Uglysha a few questions and I told her they were for my blog and this is what she said:

How do you feel now that you are famous ?.

Here is your answer to your question mark :).First of all I am Not yet famous and I don't consider my self famous yet hey maybe one day but for now ,I'm still ordinary as I can be.

Do you think you have got haters?.

As long as I am human I know I have haters and I never expect to be loved by everyone that would be a sad life :).

How do you deal with them?.

I don't deal with them I just chill and let Karma take care of them.

How does it make u feel when you hear positive comments from people?.

Positive comments obviously fun and "QUMBALITIOUS" and that is the reason I make videos just to put a smile on people's faces.

And how about negative comments?.

I ignore all negative comments ,I learnt not to waste energy on anything negative ,but some of them inspire new ideas though hahahahah.

When are we gonna hear about Mr Uglyisha?

I don't know who "Mr Uglyisha" is but that must be a very SQWABALANDA dude lol I would love to meet him.

Hahaha I meant are you seeing anyone ?

Oh ok I am successfully single.

What should we expect from you in the next future?

Well I got dreams, wishes and hopes.I would like to run next to Borat act in a comedy film and do a comedy series of feature in One or More.

So Miss Classique I heard you and others love my outfits and you wanna know where I get them Hmmm well honey I shop in Dubai :).lool I hope you like this one THE EXPAGORATION OF YOUR QUESTION MARKS AND DONT HESITATION TO ASK MORE I'M GAME BABIE!!!!.
